With 17 ships and around 120 employees, we offer unique experiences on Lake Zurich, including cruises, adventure boats and ship rentals. Our employees benefit from varied tasks, a workplace by and on the lake, six weeks vacation and a free GA Travelcard.

ZSG as an employer

With 17 ships and around 120 employees, we offer our guests unique experiences on Lake Zurich 365 days a year. Our services include cruises, adventure boats and boat rentals. We carry around 1.8 million passengers a year. We have been a partner of the Zurich Transport Association (ZVV) since 1990.

In summer, almost everyone works for us in the driving service: as a sailor, deckhand or skipper. And in winter – when there is less driving service – the ships are refurbished in the workshop. We are therefore always on the lookout for all-rounders and craftsmen who appreciate the advantages of irregular working hours and different work locations.

With us, you can expect a wonderful workplace directly on and by the lake, six weeks’ vacation and a free 2nd class GA travelcard. We offer you a varied range of tasks, attractive individual career planning and development opportunities.

Open jobs

Discover exciting career opportunities at the Lake Zurich Navigation Company (ZSG). We are always looking for committed employees for various positions who enjoy working on and around the water. Flueny in German and a solid knowledge of English are required for all positions. That’s why our vacancies are only advertised on the German site.

Job profiles

The majority of our employees have dual professions. During the summer, the nautical staff work for the guests on board our ships. In winter, they pursue their traditional trades and work on the renovation and maintenance of the ships.

Mitarbeiter auf der Reeling

Those who work with us on the ship start their career as a sailor. They then take on their first management tasks as deckhand and are also responsible for the ship’s payroll. During this time, the course is also set for their future career: as a skipper or engineer.

Skipper career

In the wheelhouse, you learn how to drive the various motorboats over the years and start with the e-Limmat boat. The ultimate career goal for most people is to become a steamboat captain.

Machinist career

If you are fascinated by mechanics and engines, you can opt for a career as an engineer. Here, too, the path leads from the small to the large motor ships and on to the steamship.

Mitarbeiter beim Schweissen in der Werkstatt

The technical staff carry out 95% of all maintenance work on our fleet themselves. The range of tasks is very broad, the activities are extremely varied and require a lot of skill: something for ambitious mechanics, fitters, painters, carpenters or electricians.

Unsolicited applicants

We are always looking for enthusiastic service providers with a skilled trade. Join us and send us your complete application to bewerbung@zsg.ch.

Our benefits

At ZSG, you can expect attractive benefits that go beyond the usual. From a free GA-Travelcard to six weeks vacation and extensive support in difficult life situations – we attach great importance to the wellbeing of our employees.

As a public transport company, we offer our employees a free 2nd class GA travelcard if they work 40% or more. This gives you free travel throughout Switzerland. For an additional CHF 571 per year, you will receive a 1st class GA travelcard. Your family also benefits from greatly reduced prices.

At ZSG, you benefit from six weeks’ vacation. And this from the very first day. Our regular working hours are 42 hours per week. Because public transport (almost) never takes a break, you will also work on Sundays and public holidays and until late in the evening in the nautical service. You will receive bonuses for working at night and on Sundays.

Employees with an annual employment contract receive a long-service bonus on their 10th anniversary and then every five years in the amount of their current monthly salary at the time of their anniversary. Alternatively, paid leave of 25 working days can be granted at the employee’s request.

It is important to ZSG that employees receive expert support to resolve difficult situations. We work together with the company Movis in occupational health management. Movis is available to help you with problems that you do not wish to discuss with your line manager or the HR specialist. Movis will provide you with professional support and specialist information on personal issues and operational problems. The advice is free of charge and confidential.

Our lunch boat offers you a good and inexpensive meal every day for CHF 12. On all other trips on the boat you get a 25% discount on the food.

ZSG pays 2/3 of your contributions to the pension fund.

Continued payment in the event of illness

In the event of incapacity for work due to illness, ZSG shall pay the full salary, provided that this is not reimbursed by the deferred daily sickness benefits insurance and provided that the incapacity, apart from the waiting period, would also be covered by the insurance.
If there is no insurance cover, ZSG’s obligation to continue to pay salary is based on Art. 324a CO, i.e. there is an entitlement to full salary for a limited period of three weeks in the first year of service and thereafter according to the “Zurich scale” (maximum continued salary payment in weeks = number of years of service + six weeks).

Continued payment in the event of accident

In the event of incapacity for work as a result of an accident, the obligation to pay salary is replaced by the benefits of the accident insurance and the UVG supplementary insurance, or the benefits of the military insurance or any third party.

Apprenticeships

The training of apprentices is very important to us. That’s why we work together with Login, our vocational training partner in the world of transport. As a commercial apprentice in the public transport sector, you will be employed by Login and complete a one-year stage at ZSG.
